We have officially kicked off our team in honor of our 14 month old daughter Isla Rose. Our team name once again will be "Isla's Eyes" for this years 2014 VisionWalk supporting The Foundation Fighting Blindness.
Last July, we were dealing with some pretty devastating news when we had just found out that Isla Rose was diagnosed with a blinding eye disease called Leiber's Congenital Aumarosis and you may recall THIS post when I decided to share her story with the world. It was a day we simply will never forget but a day we look back on and think about how far we have come since then. Since our journey began, we have learned that Isla does not match any of the current genes that fall under the "LCA" category leaving her results as "inconclusive" and "no true answer that explains her loss of vision" and we are ok with that answer. She is currently on a wait list for a new clinical trial called "exome sequencing". We do not know much about this trial yet but we will certainly know more soon and keep you all posted when Isla is officially enrolled into the trial and it begins.
Through all of this, I know one thing is cetain. Isla Rose has truly been such a blessing in our lives. We look upon life so differently and not a day goes by that she hasn't touched someone's heart with a blink of her beautiful blue eyes or by sharing her story. She has definitely changed our lives and touched our hearts in ways that are indescribable. She truly is our little angel.
